Where are God’s People?
by Laura Lee (Bismarck, North Dakota)
We have our own concerns and people we pray for. Is this
person in the “church”? Is a member of this person’s family in the “church”? Is this a list of more people I don’t know? Oh good,
tithing isn’t required of me, so I don’t have to do it anymore.
The above statements may not apply to you, and I hope they don’t.
I’ve heard these statements and many others come from the mouths of people who profess to be in the “church”, and I am sickened by
them. Our view many times is far too narrow. What if we were that person that nobody knew, wouldn’t we still want prayers? What if
we had no food or shelter? What if all we required was friendship? What if…? When I read my Bible, I don’t see any corporation boundaries,
or you are not in the “church” so I’m not required to pray for you??? In fact, we are told to pray for our enemies. If someone needs
something and you can give it, do you? There are many people out there who send you free spiritual material also. Few of them are
independently wealthy and postage especially to foreign countries is high. Not all people can help, but if you can help someone, would
you?
